Each year, on the first Saturday in December, the Alturas Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Winterfest to kick-off the Holiday Season in spectacular style. Parade enthusiasts line Main Street after dark to watch a spectacular array of lights as the exhibits make their way from the Veteran's Memorial Park all the way down to the Main Street Park next to Plumas Bank. This is where family and friends can enjoy an evening of Holiday cheer, music, food and entertainment. Everyone in attendance can view a live Nativity scene, the lighting of the town Christmas tree along with refreshments and a Bonfire to warm everyone's heart .
Mother Nature seemed to have given out a little Christmas cheer of her own as the temperature dipped down to the mid 30 degrees during the annual Winterfest "Parade of Lights" and celebration on December 1, 2018. Although it felt a little chilly for some, it never stopped the hundreds of people from showing up to this years festive event in a typical Holiday fashion. The crowd was treated to a beautiful array of lights as dozens of parade exhibits made their way from the Veteran's Memorial Park down to the Main Street Park next to Plumas Bank.
